Face-lit letters
Light appears through the front face. Consider face colour, visibility, artwork details and the required return depth. Metal returns and lighting construction are confirmed for the selected product.
Edge-lit letters
Light follows the perimeter or side profile while the face maintains a solid appearance. Review the edge profile, desired contrast and how fine artwork details will reproduce.
Halo-lit letters
Light is projected behind the letter onto the mounting surface. Wall colour, texture, stand-off and surrounding light affect the visible halo. Include mounting-surface information with the quote.
Face & edge-lit fabricated metal letters
Signbuild keeps the Face & Edge-Lit product name for this construction: both the front face and rear illuminate. The rear is closed with 10 mm sandblasted acrylic to diffuse the light for more even rear illumination. This detail applies to the fabricated metal product; confirm mini-letter construction separately.
Face & halo-lit letters
Face & halo-lit combines a luminous front face with light projected onto the mounting surface. The wall finish and mounting distance affect the halo. Confirm the required effect, construction and any separate colour preferences with the project drawing.
Mini letters and fabricated letters
Mini letters suit compact, detailed branding and close viewing. Fabricated metal letters use built-up construction. Final stroke widths, letter heights and depths require artwork review rather than a universal minimum.
What to send for a quote
Provide vector artwork when available, overall dimensions, quantity, desired illumination, finish, mounting surface, indoor or outdoor location and delivery requirements. Do not assume certification, electrical suitability or lead time from an effect image.
